During a disaster or other emergency situation, the volunteer members of the Association coordinate their support to the District through the use of Amateur Radio. The LAUSD ARA supports efforts to educate and train students, teachers, parents, and others as Amateur Radio operators using the resources of the Los Angeles Unified School District. Participation and membership are open to all licensed Amateur Radio operators. Please click on the "Join the ARA" link to the left and fill out the form to be put on our membership roster. THE
GREAT SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA SHAKEOUT At 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 13th, millions of people in homes, schools, businesses, government offices, and public places all over southern California will Drop, Cover, and Hold On. Why? An enormous earthquake is in our future, and the ShakeOut Drill is our chance to practice what to do when it happens. The LAUSD ARA will participate in the drill by making our open repeaters available and manning a Net Control Station from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon. Do your part - check in on either the 147.195 or 449.700 repeaters and let us know how YOU are prepared. Click HERE for more information! AMATEUR RADIO NEWS:
